Moooi

Moooi means very pretty (mooi in Dutch: pretty, nice, attractive). The founders Wanders and Vissers added an extra o to the name, standing for extra pretty since then. The Dutch design company does not only concentrate on lamps and luminaires but also on all other aspects concerning interior decoration and interior design. The luminaires designed by Moooi come along rather playful and extravagant. Many of them seem little and graceful, however, generally speaking the range includes quite big and expressive lamps, which do not overstrain the viewer, but gently complete the surrounding. Furthermore, it is noticeable that natural materials like wood, paper, plastics, metals or glass are combined very often. One example being the "paper chandelier" used by Moooi, inter alia, for a Philips Consumer Lifestyle Presentation in Berlin. Moreover, Moooi rarely falls back on gaudy colours despite their extravagant shapes like with the “rabbit lamp”. The predominant colours are black and white and they give a certain elegance even to the most unusual lamps. This makes rather classical orientated customers acquire a taste for them as well.
